Biomarker Technician

to support a government customer at Ft. Detrick .

This position is contingent upon contract award.

The salary range (or hiring range) for this exempt position has been established at:

$69,000 - $75,000.

The above salary range represents the company's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Job Summary

The Employee shall provide laboratory support by performing work on microphysiological systems (MPS), next generation sequencing, real time PCR, Nanostring, Luminex multiplexed immunoassays, basic/advanced sample processing, microbiology and other molecular diagnostic techniques. The Employee shall execute scientific studies for PIs with minimal supervision, analyze and provide summarized data, assist in the preparation of technical reports, standard operating procedures, and manuscripts relating to their research efforts, maintain laboratory equipment and suite integrity, and facilitate execution of mission critical research.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Employee shall assist in the development of and independently execute protocols adhering to the experimental design for biomarker verification as determined in collaboration with the respective project Lead/PI in a BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 environment. Employee shall perform experiments at BSL-2, BSL-3, and BSL-4 as required by the experimental design and respective organisms. Employee shall facilitate the planning, preparation, and laboratory research execution support of approximately 5 projects per year. Employee shall perform next generation sequencing, Nanostring immunological and inflammatory panels, Luminex-based platforms, miRNA quantification, as well as other molecular diagnostic techniques. Employee shall conduct experiments for detection of etiologic agents within animal, clinical, or environmental samples. Employee shall serve as the laboratory supervisor for assigned laboratory spaces to ensure the laboratory meets required safety, functionality, and stocking requirements. Employee shall assist the PIs in preparation of standard operating procedures, technical reports and manuscripts for publication. Employee shall perform laboratory work required to fulfil experimental designs for novel sample collection/concentration/processing to include Nanotrap Concentration, and DNA/mRNA purification from both NHP and Human clinical matrices. Employee shall present protocols and data generated at weekly meetings as requested. The number of reports, data, and SOPs required will vary per year depending on the number of funded projects available, but the typical workload is facilitating research on 3-6 projects per year. Employee shall contribute to the Quarterly and Annual Reports for associative projects and protocols. The Employee shall provide the TPOC data and SOPs for responsible projects NLT the last workday of each month as required. CONUS/OCONUS travel may be required in support of the diagnostic mission. BPRP enrollment is required and shall be held and maintained IAW the provisions in this contract and all applicable regulations. Travel Requirements

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree Qualifications and Requirements

Ability to work under deadline pressure, handle stress and deliver professional results. Long hours and weekends may be required to meet deliverables. Strong written and oral communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail. Self-motivated with minimal oversight. Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Some travel may be required. Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
