Job Title: Maintenance Technician/Supervisor (3rd Shift)
Location: Oak Creek, WI 53154 (On site)
Pay: $39.00–$42.00/hr on W2 + shift premium for 3rd shift (Depends on Experience/Interview)
Duration: Contract Role (Possible Extension or Temp to Hire for right candidate)
Schedule: 3rd Shift 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM

- Role: Ensure smooth operation of a new state-of-the-art baking facility; maintain and repair equipment to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime
- Ideal candidate has expertise in mechanical, electrical, and automated systems; contribute to operational excellence and continuous improvement
Roles and responsibilities
- Perform predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance tasks to ensure reliability and efficiency of high-speed packaging and production equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, and robotic systems to minimize downtime
- Execute maintenance activities in compliance with OSHA, SQF, and company safety standards
- Utilize CMMS to log work orders, track maintenance schedules, and complete assignments efficiently
- Support root cause failure analyses (RCFA) and monitor KPIs such as uptime/downtime, response times, MTBF, MTTR, and PM completion
Day-to-day essential work
- Diagnose and resolve issues with equipment and systems (safety circuits, conveyors, vacuum systems, closed-loop refrigeration, heated sealers, motors, gearboxes, VFDs, PLC-controlled systems)
- Conduct regular equipment inspections for safety, quality, and operational standards
- Document maintenance activities in the CMMS for record-keeping and analysis
- Ensure proper lubrication, alignment, and adjustment of mechanical systems
- Support production during setup, changeovers, and adjustments to minimize downtime
- Collaborate with team members and cross-functional departments to maintain seamless production
- Regularly clean and lubricate machinery to extend equipment life
- Maintain tools and spare parts; assist in maintaining critical spares inventory
- Participate in daily meetings and huddles to communicate status and improvements
- Test safety systems and controls for regulatory and policy compliance
- Assist with audits and inspections by providing equipment maintenance reports
Occasional work
- Participate in Kaizen events to drive process and equipment improvements
- Perform root cause analyses (e.g., 5 Whys) and implement corrective actions
- Support commissioning and testing of new equipment
- Participate in cross-functional projects for energy efficiency and waste reduction
- Develop and document maintenance-related SOPs
- Assist with training programs for new hires

- Collaborate with operations, quality, sanitation, and distribution to maintain safe, efficient production
- Support TPM practices and Autonomous/Planned Maintenance

Skills and qualifications
- Technical Expertise: Experience with electrical, mechanical, and automated systems in high-speed packaging; knowledge of TPM, RCM, RCFA, and PMO
- Mechanical Systems: Gears, shafts, bearings, pneumatics; use of calipers, micrometers, dial indicators; repair of pumps, compressors, and rotating equipment
- Electrical Systems: Troubleshooting AC/DC motors, motor controls, power distribution; PLC diagnostics; basic ladder logic (Siemens, Allen Bradley); repair of motor starters, breakers, transformers
- Automation Systems: Basic understanding of robotics, motion controls; knowledge of VFDs
- Preventive Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical failures; use measurement tools; repair/replace components; align shafts
- Education & experience: 2+ years hands-on maintenance in manufacturing; TPM/RCM/RCFA; CMMS experience; root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone); high school diploma or GED required; technical certification/associate degree preferred; PLC/robotics/electrical certifications a plus
- Language & Skills: Proficient in English (written and spoken); strong problem-solving, attention to detail; ability to work independently or in a team
Working conditions
- Plant environment with some office work
- 9-hour shifts; some weekend shifts
- Physical requirements: sit, climb/balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; lift up to 10–50 lbs as needed
- Exposure to hazards, heat, cold, confined spaces, noise, grease, oils, and dust
