Description: Travel opportunity available for an RN in Med Surg. The unit is an 18-bed medical-surgical unit. The staffing structure includes charge nurses, RNs, and patient care technicians. Patient ratios are approximately 5:1 for RNs. Equipment used on the unit includes Philips monitors, Alaris pumps, and glucometers. The electronic medical record system utilized is Meditech. Typical patients include individuals recovering from minimally invasive surgeries and general surgery procedures. Common patient diagnoses include CHF, COPD, cellulitis, sepsis, DKA, and pneumonia. Ideal candidates should be team-oriented, compassionate, and committed to positive patient outcomes. Candidates should be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and adept at shifting priorities. Weekend shifts may be required. All travelers will have a designated resource nurse to support their orientation and success on the unit. Expectations include participating in shift huddles and adhering to unit routines. Communication with patients, families, and team members is vital for providing high-quality care. The focus is on intentional rounding and maintaining an organized patient care environment. All staff must demonstrate respect, integrity, accountability, compassion, and excellence. Documentation of care and adherence to policies regarding patient safety and monitoring is essential. Frontline responsibilities include performing assessments, managing medications, and ensuring proper care protocols. Collaboration with patient care technicians is necessary to provide optimal care for patients. End-of-shift responsibilities include documenting care and preparing for the next shift. This position requires strong communication skills and a commitment to patient-centered care.
