We are currently hiring a Quality Assurance CO-OP in Pennsylvania

Location: Samuel Adams Pennsylvania Brewery

Reports To: Quality Manager, with mentorship from Assistant Quality Managers

Position Summary

Join our high-volume brewery as a Quality Assurance Co-op and gain hands-on experience in quality systems, laboratory practices, and manufacturing processes. This role is designed for students seeking to apply academic knowledge in a dynamic, corporate production environment. You will contribute to real-world quality initiatives while developing a solid foundation in food safety, instrumentation, and data tracking.

Learning Objectives

Understand and apply HACCP principles in a brewery setting

Learn Material Quality and Handling Procedures

Gain experience with instrumentation and calibration

Build and utilize dashboards for tracking quality metrics

Develop an understanding of Food Defense strategies

Experience working within a corporate structure and cross-functional teams

Stretch Goals

Gain familiarity with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)

Learn the basics of Six Sigma methodology

Understand Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and their role in quality management

What you'll Brew

Assist in routine quality checks and data collection across brewing and packaging operations

Support calibration and maintenance of lab instrumentation

Participate in the development of dashboards for tracking quality metrics

Observe and contribute to HACCP and Food Defense procedures

Help document and improve Material Quality and Handling Procedures

Attend and contribute to weekly formal progress meetings and daily informal check-ins

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives

What Ingredients You'll Bring

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Effective communication and organizational skills

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

General laboratory experience (academic or professional)

Exposure to manufacturing or production environments

Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Excel dashboards, Power BI)

In accordance with pay transparency laws the rate for this role if hired is $18 - $20 an hour.
