Overview
Soft Goods Fabrication Technician role at Outpost. Location: Playa Vista, California (in-person, five days per week).

Responsibilities
- Perform sewing of soft goods technologies—such as parafoil, parachutes, and heat shields—ensuring high-quality construction and adherence to design specifications
- Execute and document inspection processes to maintain a high-quality sewing standard
- Perform prototype sewing and collaborate with designers, providing feedback to ensure accurate translation of design dimensions into finished parts
- Support soft goods rigging tasks, create standard operating procedures on parachute packing, assembly, and testing
- Support field testing of soft goods
- Create prototypes for different seam sewing techniques and testing
- Conduct training sessions and create manuals on sewing techniques
- Create operational tasks related to sewing and record the time of each task
Qualifications
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with soft goods systems, including manufacturing and rigging fundamentals
- Familiarity with FAA regulations and guidelines applicable to soft goods systems (paragliders, parachutes, heat shields)
- Proficiency with operation, maintenance, and usage of both single- and double-needle industrial sewing machines
- Ability to demonstrate seamstress abilities during interview, including sample sewing test and demonstration of proper usage of standard measuring tools
- Certification in small explosives‑handling or willingness to complete required training
- Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring precise build dimensions and consistent quality
- Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot collaboratively under time‑sensitive conditions, including the ability to work independently with task ambiguity
- Clear and open communication style, both written and verbal
- Ability to interpret and follow engineering drawings and manufacturing work instructions
- Physical capability to safely lift and position heavier components and test equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation
Compensation & Benefits
- $60,000 - $80,000, salary commensurate with experience
