Must-Have: - Sterile reprocessing certification - Experience in acute hospital settings
Description: The Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for the reprocessing of medical instruments and equipment. This position requires knowledge of chemical agents for decontamination and the use of cleaning equipment. The tech must be familiar with high-level disinfection, manual cleaning, and proper labeling of instruments. The role includes assembling and organizing trays, placing instruments on trays, and following sterilization wrapping procedures. Experience with endoscope reprocessing, including bronchoscopes and colonoscopes, is essential. The position requires understanding biological and chemical indicators for sterilization monitoring. The tech will work with various surgical specialties, including orthopedic, general, and urology. Working during the evening shift includes Sundays and Saturdays. Participation in weekend shifts is required every six weeks. No on-call duties are included in this role. The tech must possess basic computer skills for documentation purposes. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are crucial in this position. The candidate must adhere to infection control practices and sterile technique standards. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety and quality care is expected.
