Performs the day-to-day monitoring, testing and documentation to assure that all processes and practices comply with SQF standards for Food Safety and Quality, as well as other federal regulations and directives in food production. Gathers sampling of product and performs quality testing of production environment and equipment. Conducts quality audits of facility assuring company standards are maintained and product integrity is preserved. Performs record reviews. Assists with special projects. A focus on standards, regulations and practices related to food safety and food quality and environmental safety is priority. All procedures and practices used are grounded in standards, regulations and laws addressing occupational safety (OSHA), and food safety and food quality (FDA) in addition to environmental safety (EPA) in accordance with Safe Quality Food (SQF) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Assure that quality assurance standards and documents are communicated and enforced by conducting daily inspections
Owns site Environmental Monitoring Programs, EnviroMap calendar & corrective actions including performing environmental swabbing of production equipment and environment with analysis of results and coordination sample shipment
Reviews written documents describing analysis techniques and test results; reviews SOP's and other quality documents and reports
Communicate with all levels of the organization in review of test results, including written and verbal forms
Regularly uses SAP, TraceGains, InfinityQS, Weever and EnviroMap to complete job tasks
Performs shelf-life testing by gathering samples for additional incubation and auditing defects as directed
Provide support for sample gathering and data recording for plant trials
Perform audits to verify compliance with established SOP documentation, GMP's, HACCP and Safe Quality Food (SQF) efforts (i.e. Glass & Brittle, Internal Audits, Facility Audits, Daily GMP Inspections)
Assists with the coordination, performance, and documentation remediation of product on hold
Reviews regulatory & production documentation for product release (i.e. record review)
Maintain inventory tracking and supply levels for QA lab
Owns calibration and maintenance of lab instrumentation
Participates and takes on leadership roles in Continuous Improvement initiatives such as process improvement teams and/or root cause analysis
Participates in quality meetings and training
Supports the assessment and management of Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points (HACCP) & Food Safety Plan
Assists FSQ Manager with the compilation of nutritional or customer required sampling
Utilizes SAP to determine usage decisions on all ingredients and film, reviews COAs and verifies their compliance to agreed specifications. Evaluate ingredient stocks and amounts received by WHS, physically evaluate incoming goods and communicate with external vendors as needed
Monitors and reviews SPC data and reports
Reviews product specifications documentation for production
Monitor the HACCP Program and processes, reflecting a focus on continuous improvement with the customer complaint process and the product complaint process, including investigation, analysis, follow up, documentation, trending, and routine internal reporting to leadership
Communicate routinely with FSQ Manager and plant leadership, identifying opportunities for improvement, training and quality assurance program goals or barriers
Exudes a high degree of inter-personal skills and has the ability to work well with everyone
Follows and enforces standards for food safety and food quality production reflected in SQF as well as the regulations of major vendors and governmental agencies such as OSHA, FDA and EPA and assures associates are consistently trained in these standards and comply with all requirements
Maintains an understanding of the production schedule for each shift and how it influences the work to be done
Evaluates plant cleaning and sanitation activities on all equipment and in all departments following both safety and quality procedures, policies, and rules and in accordance with the standards, regulations and laws governing food safety, food quality and environmental safety regulations and monitors and accurately documents all work completed. This includes midweek and end of the week production cleaning (i.e. pre-op inspections). Assists with plant cleaning and sanitation activities as needed.
Assists production with packaging, palletizing, and other duties, as needed
Supports the implementation and monitoring of all identified food safety and food quality standards, laws, good manufacturing practices, training and continuous improvement regulations, and laws. Notifies leaders if there are any concerns or opportunities for improvement
Primary focus of all business-related efforts are and must remain that of promoting excellence in all products
Remains current in training expectations
Records and documents according to procedures
Keeps work environment clean, safe
