Our Entry Level Controls Engineers specialize in control panels, automation systems, and PLC/HMI
programming. In this role, you’ll be responsible for developing electrical schematics, configuring
automation hardware, and ensuring seamless integration of automated processes.
Key Responsibilities
Design electrical, control, and communication systems for automation in industries such as water/wastewater, food & beverage, and life sciences
Program, test, and debug PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric)
Create BOMs, I/O lists, and specifications for control panels
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across engineering and operations
Troubleshoot and resolve issues in control systems and automation equipment
Produce detailed engineering drawings including single-line diagrams, panel layouts, and wiring schematics
Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards and industry regulations
Communicate effectively with customers to manage projects, gather feedback, resolve issues, and address concerns.
Manage your projects from initiation through to completion
Identify scope of work, schedule, and budget requirements
Identify and develop new business opportunities with customers, consultants and end users
Coordinate meetings with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Systems Engineering
3 years minimum experience in controls design, PLC programming, and industrial automation
Experience with AutoCAD Electrical required
Hands-on experience with SCADA/HMI platforms; Wonderware, Ignition, or FactoryTalk
Understanding of industrial communication protocols Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet/IP
Working knowledge of instrumentation and process control systems able to support and troubleshoot sensors, actuators, and control loops in manufacturing settings
Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical to create and modify electrical schematics for control panel design and system layouts
Strong analytical & problem-solving abilities to diagnose complex issues and implement effective, data-driven solutions
Excellent communication & collaboration skills comfortable working across teams and clearly conveying technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
