Description New College of Florida invites applications for a Dean of the Master of Education in Educational Leadership degree. We are a new program looking for a Dean to help found a groundbreaking master's program that will produce the next generation of excellent school leaders. The program is born out of a recognition that most masters in educational leadership and principal certificate programs focus on school operations and compliance while all the research indicates that instructional leadership is the fundamental leadership competency leading to excellent school outcomes. We are building a cohort-based program that ensures each graduate will be ready to lead schools that will put our country back in the running for top educational systems when compared to similar countries. Faculty in this program will teach in a graduate program that produces leaders who will be ready to create exceptional school culture, lead high performing school teams, and build talent that leads to outlier outcomes for students and families. This includes leading instruction of core classes and overseeing clinical coursework where future leaders will develop their teaching and leadership skills on the front lines. The Dean will be a unique leader who can model effective leadership practices, recruit, select, train and develop faculty to found a premier program in education leadership. Clinical experience in school leadership or research in effective leadership practices are particular areas of interest as well as experience founding and building schools and/or programs. We seek individuals who are enthusiastic about teaching future leaders to be excellent teachers and excellent instructional leaders through competency and practicum-based coursework. The Dean will supervise course instruction and also teach at least one course to serve as a model for faculty and to build stewardship of each cohort. The teaching load for each faculty member is two to three classes per semester, plus supervision of clinical courses, cohort culture building experiences, capstone projects, and student recruitment. Faculty members also provide support in growing the program. Professors are expected to maintain a program of research or creative work. The Dean would manage and coach the faculty to continuously improve performance toward the program's strategic goals. About New College
