Must-Have: Compassion, urgency, and teamwork are extremely important for this role. Candidates must possess Level II or Level III trauma experience.

Description: The emergency department has a bed capacity of 16 with 8 additional hall chairs. The unit staff consists of 6-7 members per shift. Day shift typically includes 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, and 4-5 nurses (one mid-shift), along with 1 unit secretary and 1-2 techs. Night shift consists of 1 charge nurse, 1 triage nurse, and 4-5 nurses (one mid-shift), 1 unit secretary, and 1 tech.

Patient ratios are 1:4 for low acuity ESI 4 & 5 cases, with a possibility of 6 patients. Common equipment includes cardiac monitors, IV pumps, vital signs monitors, and Tonopen devices. Electronic medical records are managed through an EMR system, with vital signs flowing directly into patient charts.

Candidates with certification in CEN or TCRN, along with CPI certification, are given preference. Standard procedures performed by staff include assessments, documentation, medication administration, wound care, splinting, IV placements, urine collection, and lab draws. The dress code requires royal blue scrubs, with an option to wear team jerseys on Sundays to promote seasonal spirit.

Shift huddles are mandatory at 7AM and 7PM, except when critical care is required. Mandatory EMTALA training is a requirement of the role. The department is recognized for climbing the ranks in patient satisfaction and employee engagement. Staff is committed to providing timely care for stroke, STEMI, sepsis, and trauma patients. This unit is transitioning from a Level IV to a Level II trauma classification, representing growth and opportunity for staff.
