Overview
Group Fitness Instructor
Crunch, known for its innovative and cutting-edge classes, is currently seeking Group Fitness Instructors. We are seeking fitness professionals who have previous teaching experience and who have a passion for making fitness fun. There is a need for instructors who have experience in any and all of the following genres: HIIT based classes, Step 360, BOSU, Kickboxing, Zumba, TRX, Hi/Lo, Sculpt, Yoga and Pilates.
The Group Fitness Instructor will lead members, in a group environment, through a pre-arranged format of exercises designed to enhance overall fitness, strength and endurance, while ensuring that the safety of the members is not compromised. The Group Exercise Instructor will also serve as a resource to educate members on various aspects of fitness.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Nationally Accredited Aerobic Certification AFAA, ACE or NASM preferred.
- Valid Yoga or Pilates Certification also acceptable
- Current CPR certification and basic first aid training is required.
- Minimum of six months teaching in a group exercise format.
- Knowledge of safe exercise technique and group exercise principles.
- Knowledge of basic physiology and body mechanics.
- Performance of a variety of exercise routines.
- Positive and effective interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot audio equipment.
- Instructors having a specialized skill such as Yoga, Pilates, Body Pump, Body Attack, etc. must provide verifiable proof of education.
- Physical demands include, but are not limited to, the ability to lift light weights, bending, squatting, jumping, running, reaching, walking, hopping, spinning and kicking.

Responsibilities
- Instruct safe and effective exercise classes.
- Maintain all mandatory education certifications.
- Follow all instructor sign-in/sign-out procedures.
- Understand, and follow all policies, procedures, and standards.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Crunch brand and model behavior in accordance with Crunch mission statement.
- Facilitate all member requests or forward to a manager.
- Maintain professional disposition at all times.
- Follow all club/facility policies and procedures.
- Follow all policies and procedures in Employee Handbook.

Pre-Class Preparation
- Arrive at class location 10 to 15 minutes ahead of scheduled start time to be available to interact with members, answer questions, inquire about their fitness progress, and orient new participants.
- Know participants on an individual basis and have a sense of their fitness capabilities.
- Wear appropriate fitness attire; clothing should not be revealing inappropriately and should allow participants to see proper form. When possible, wear company branded attire. Proper footwear must be worn.
- Prepare appropriate music and ensure equipment (tapes/CDs) are ready; avoid offensive language in music.
- Ensure all equipment is functioning and microphones are ready.
During Class Responsibilities
- Introduce yourself and the format of the class.
- Assess first-timers privately and gauge their fitness level where possible.
- Provide clear verbal instructions with appropriate volume and tempo to foster learning and enjoyment.
- Continually monitor participants to ensure proper form.
- Offer variations to accommodate all fitness levels.
- Create a motivational and fun environment for all participants.
After Class Responsibilities
- Remove all music and return microphone to proper place.
- Ensure room is ready for the next class.
- Answer questions/concerns and solicit feedback from participants.
Additional Responsibilities
- Ensure class begins and ends promptly; adjust the flow if necessary to adhere to schedule.
- If teaching the last class of the day, follow proper closing procedures as outlined by the Group Exercise Director for the facility.
- Find a qualified/approved substitute if unable to fulfill a scheduled class and notify the Group Exercise Director if there is an issue finding a substitute.
- Be dependable and consistent in class schedules; arrange substitutes to minimize cancellations.
- Attend required staff meetings as necessary.
- Follow proper time recording procedures.
- Prepare incident and/or witness reports as necessary for accidents.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude toward responsibilities, colleagues, and members.
- Promote the Company as much as possible.
