Responsibilities
Assist the Nurse Manager in administrative duties of the unit, especially during off shifts. Provide leadership by collaborating with members of the health care team to maintain standards for professional nursing practice. Participate in organizational and unit-based quality improvement activities; provide input on standards of care. Provide patient care as needed and maintain clinical competencies, with potential for weekly patient care shift assignments. Supervise care by maintaining high visibility to patients, families, and staff. Share accountability for unit/department/organizational goals (patient experience, staff engagement, continuous process improvement). Manage staff including recruitment, retention, coaching, training, evaluation, and scheduling/delegation of work. Under supervision, participate in basic human resources functions. Provide managerial support; develop and participate in Quality Improvement Processes; collaborate to improve patient care outcomes. Serve as a professional role model, coach, and resource; participate in nursing/hospital committees and shared governance. Maintain records pertaining to staff competency and quality audits. Commit to ongoing professional growth and adaptability for other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire. Experience: At least two years of experience as a registered nurse. Licensure: Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia; American Heart Association Health Care Provider BLS certification required. Preferred Requirements
2-3 years of Adult Oncology experience ONS Certification Leadership experience Physical Demands
Standing for prolonged periods; frequent bending/stooping/travel; climbing stairs or ladders; driving. Requires good communication, auditory and visual skills; ability to lift/push/pull >100 lbs; may be exposed to fumes, chemicals, vibrations, humidity, and infectious materials.
