Money Management Volunteer - Arlington
Minuteman Senior Services, Arlington, Massachusetts, us, 02474
Many seniors find themselves overwhelmed and unable to manage bill paying and budgeting resulting with bills going unpaid and debts mounting. Our Money Management volunteers provide assistance with their monthly bill paying and related paperwork. Volunteer bill payers establish a list of monthly income and expenses; sort (financial) mail; organize bills for payment; balance checkbook and reconcile to bank statement; write checks from a designated account for consumer to sign; and perform other related tasks as agreed by consumer, volunteer, and program coordinator.
We will train, supervise, and provide ongoing support to our Money Management volunteers. Training can be done in two hours. You will be assigned one consumer (or in a few cases, spouses) living near you. Money Management Volunteers visit with them for 6-8 hours per month, depending on their needs. A minimum one-year commitment to the program is requested. Monthly reporting is required; Bill Payers attend quarterly meetings to review client cases, discuss issues and updates.
