Leidos Maritime System Solutions (MSS) is on the lookout for a highly skilled Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our dynamic system development team. In this role, you will research, design, develop, and test cutting-edge technologies aimed at enhancing next-generation maritime capabilities.
As part of the dedicated Leidos team, you will collaborate closely with other engineers and team members in a fast-paced, achievement-oriented work environment. Most of your work will take place at our San Diego, CA location, specifically at the Naval Information Warfare Center, where you will also collaborate with team members located at other facilities.
We anticipate conducting most at-sea testing in San Diego, but occasional travel may be required to work with team members offsite or to support test operations beyond the San Diego area.
Primary Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Collaborate within an experienced system development team to provide your technical expertise in designing, developing, integrating, and testing electrical components and subsystems.
Work within a structured system framework that addresses relevant performance and interface requirements, while remaining aware of cost and schedule constraints.
Conclude development efforts with comprehensive verification of allocated performance requirements at the component, subsystem, and overall system levels.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
Proficient in analog and digital circuit design, as well as tools for PCB design, layout, fabrication, and testing.
Knowledgeable in PCB fabrication and assembly techniques.
Skilled in using circuit testing tools like oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, multimeters, and signal generators.
Experienced in programming low-power microcontrollers with C/C++.
Familiar with Programmable Logic (CPLD & FPGA).
A team player with experience in developing practical solutions, delivering products, and testing and evaluating performance.
Adept at analyzing experimental data to propose design modifications during system development cycles.
Possess strong technical writing skills for contributing to technical reports and briefing materials.
Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Experience with Altium Designer.
Proficient in VHLD programming language.
Experience in custom circuit card design, integration, and testing.
A self-starter who identifies technical challenges and collaborates with team members to find optimal solutions.
Capable of taking a system-of-systems approach to understand requirements and produce reliable, innovative designs.
Experience conducting laboratory and at-sea test and evaluation (T&E) tasks.
