Deanof the College of Public Affairs and Education (CPAE).
Reporting to theVice Chancellor for Academic Affairs & Provost, the Dean serves as theCollege's chief executive-empowered to lead, advocate, and shape a dynamicacademic enterprise that prepares future educators, policymakers,communicators, legal and civic professionals to make an immediate and lastingimpact.

CPAE comprises five units-the
Schoolof Education ,
School of Communication and Media ,
Departmentof Legal Studies ,
School of Politics and International Affairs, and
School of Public Management and Polic y-with approximately
50full-time faculty . The College offers
11 baccalaureate programs ,
ninemaster's programs , and
the university's sole doctoral program ,serving
378 undergraduate
and
436 graduate

The Role.
The Dean will champion inclusiveexcellence; foster a student-centered culture; and build strategicrelationships across the university, the Springfield community, and beyond. Thesuccessful leader will grow innovative programs; strengthen externalpartnerships and fundraising; support high-quality teaching and research; andsteward resources with transparency and strong financial acumen-positioning theCollege at the nexus of education, public service, law, media, and policy.

Minimum Qualifications: Earned doctorate with qualifications for a tenured senior appointment in a UIS academic unit. Distinguished record of teaching, scholarship, and service. Minimum of five years of innovative leadership and academic administrative experience. Higher education achievements relevant to the position's responsibilities. Demonstrated commitment to the mission of public regional comprehensive universities. Willingness to engage with and seek to understand programs within the position's purview. Appreciation for the various populations that make up UIS students, staff, and faculty. High integrity, curiosity, and commitment to collaborative leadership.
