Description
PURPOSE:
This position is primarily responsible for the repair and maintenance of the facility.
DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Routine inspections of Mechanical equipment. Repair of air cylinders, hydraulic pumps, water jet vacuum systems, punch presses and pneumatic equipment after appropriate training period. Repair of vacuum systems, punch presses pneumatic equipment. Schedule flexibility to support critical deadlines may be required. Provide assistance as needed to others within the group. Other duties as assigned. Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR PROFESSIONAL LICENSE(s)/EXPERIENCE:
(2) year Technical Certificate from college, technical or vocational school; or 5 or more years related experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Basic knowledge of mechanical and or electrical skills preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to others within the work group. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. OTHER SKILL AND ABILITIES
Diligent, punctual and disciplined. Able to manage own time to meet objectives. Flexible and willing to adapt work pace and methods to handle changes, prioritization and meet deadlines. Autonomy - is able to work alone and assume responsibility after and appropriate training period. Puts own lee way to good use and exercises discernment in making decisions and taking action. Ability to learn mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, steam and related system functions. BASIC MECHANICAL
Demonstrate proper use of hand tools, i.e. grinders, drills, saws, sanders etc. Demonstrate how to repair/rebuild gearboxes. Demonstrate how to repair/rebuild pumps (vacuum and pressure). Identify different various fasteners and their uses. Identify the major components of a hydraulic/pneumatic system. Demonstrate how to safely rig heavy loads. BASIC ELECTRICAL
Demonstrate how to use a multimeter to measure volts, ohms, resistance etc. Identify power supply source Demonstrate how to confirm the absence of voltage for LOTO Troubleshoot blown fuses, tripped breakers or overloads Identify fault codes on VFDs Locating and identify major components inside a control panel using a schematic diagram i.e. fuses, motors, starters, relays, transformers etc. and the to explain to your qualifier the purpose of each. BASIC PLUMBING
Identify various material, sizes and schedules of pipe. Fabricate various nipples to required length using hand or power threaders. Replace defective pipe fittings, i.e. unions, tees, nipples, valves, etc. Repair plumbing components to include vales, pumps, solenoids, steam trap etc. INTERMEDIATE MACHINE KNOWLEDGE
Explain in detail the operation of 5 machines you have been exposed to at Gentex OR, if new hire, machines similar to those in our process. Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot process related issues on various machines.

Internally, must be able to communicate effectively with fellow employees and machine operators at all levels of organization.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL/COMMUNICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; manual dexterity to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job may include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The individual must have a high level of comprehension, and a high level of general, verbal, written, and numerical intelligence.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Works majority of the day in a climate-controlled environment, with the exception of or otherwise specified, performing work in the warehouse or manufacturing areas which are subject to changes in temperature and/or noise.
TRAVEL:
Generally, travel is not required

Carbondale, PA is about twenty miles north of Scranton, PA, 50 miles south of Binghamton, NY, and about 125 miles from New York City and Philadelphia.
