About The Position
We are seeking a Board Certified Pathologist for a locum tenens assignment in Wisconsin starting Jan 1, 2026. This opportunity offers a 248-day contract, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no weekends or holidays. Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide anatomic and clinical pathology services, including surgical pathology, cytopathology, and autopsy pathology
- Diagnose presence and stage of diseases using laboratory techniques and patient specimens
- Perform autopsies to determine causes of death when needed
- Deliver timely clinical laboratory consultation to technical staff and healthcare providers
- Ensure accurate, comprehensive diagnostic reports for all anatomic specimens
- Maintain compliance with accrediting and regulatory agency requirements within the pathology and laboratory medicine sections
- Assist in establishing and maintaining quality assurance programs and provide technical guidance on policies and procedures
- Conduct intradepartmental consultations on challenging or significant cases, ensuring second pathologist review when required
- Evaluate frozen surgical specimens to assist in surgical patient care
- Review and confirm diagnoses on tissue samples obtained externally prior to treatment
- Oversee post-mortem examination services, including securing authorizations and coordinating with funeral directors and local authorities
Additional Information
- American Board of Pathology certification in Anatomic Pathology & Clinical Pathology required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Must be licensed to practice medicine (any state license accepted)
- Experience with CPRS electronic medical record system preferred
- Reports to Chief of Service, Director of Clinical Pathology, or Director of Anatomic Pathology as appropriate
