General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, diligently follows all company best practice standards as outlined in all work centers, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to perform a range of tasks in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors in everything you do.
  • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment. Keep egress clear to emergency exits and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional at all times. Recognize fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assist Customers as needed — register-trained, help with merchandise, and answer questions politely and knowledgeably. Greet Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a courteous greeting throughout the Store; thank customers at every register transaction.
  • Provide prompt and efficient responses to Customer Service needs. Respond to service calls promptly and involve Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies) and disinfect high-touch areas to maintain merchandise, customer, and Team areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the Company's dress code at all times.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery tasks to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well-maintained and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines, maintaining brand-name familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
  • Understand the Loss Prevention Awareness program and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions. Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follow MOS policies, properly process MOS merchandise, and notify Store Leadership to review and approve all disposals.
  • Follow policies concerning cash, check, charge card, and refund transactions, voids, and offline procedures; maintain accuracy handling bankable tenders.
  • Demonstrate urgency and maximize productivity by executing Store best practices and minimizing steps in workflow.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
  • Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom associates: Ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.
