As a Procurement Transplant Coordinator, you will provide primary medical care to authorized organ donors in hospital Intensive Care Units and OneLegacy recovery facilities. The care consists of managing hemodynamics and pulmonary function to secure perfusion and oxygenation to the lifesaving organs for transplant. Job Type: Full-time, Non-exempt Work Hours: 12-hour shifts; 7 days in a two week period, including alternating weekends. Nights! Work Setting: In-person and Donor Service Area Location: Employee may assigned to a base office in Azusa, El Segundo, Bakersfield, Carpinteria, or Mission Hills Travel: Employees are required to travel within our service area. Summary of Functions: The Procurement Transplant Coordinator (PTC-II) is the clinical professional responsible for all aspects of the Organ Procurement Process at a hospital within OneLegacy's DSA and at a OneLegacy Recovery Center. The PTC-II's responsibility begins with assisting hospitals to identify and report potential donor referrals and proceeds through the organ recovery procedure. The PTC-II is responsible for reinforcing and supporting all processes of donation as outlined in the UAGA (Uniform Anatomical Gift Act). The clinical element requires direct medical donor care, with an emphasis on assessment, resuscitation, physiologic management, organ allocation, documentation, packaging and labeling of organs for transplant or research at the time of recovery. The PTC-II directs the medical treatment regimen to meet the assessed needs of the donor in accordance with established medical practices, the donor requirements, policies & procedures, practices, and goals of OneLegacy. The PTC-II will identify and support the psychosocial needs of donor families and loved ones with direct aid from OneLegacy family support teams. Administrative, training, and regulatory responsibilities are included within this vital role at OneLegacy. The PTC-II will support hospital development in his/her assigned hospitals and conduct professional and public education presentations about organ, eye and tissue donation. PTC-IIs are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out assigned duties. Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Job Functions: Clinical Donor Management • Demonstrate expertise and elevated nursing skills while utilizing advanced clinical decision-making and critical thinking to manage organ function, medications and ventilator management in collaboration with the Organ Team Lead, Supervisor of Organ Procurement and Donor Management Intensivist team to optimize donor care to ensure the best clinical outcome. • Oversee the complete organ procurement process, including assessment, resuscitation, hemodynamic management, organ placement, and recovery. • Perform and coordinate timely diagnostic testing to assess organ suitability for transplantation. • Adapt treatment regimens based on donor-specific needs for optimal organ outcomes. • Uphold the highest standards of patient safety and quality of care throughout the donor management process. Collaboration & Support • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for medical professionals involved in the organ donation process. • Work closely with donor families, offering compassionate guidance and support during a challenging time. • Coordinate with medical teams, surgeons, and transplant centers to ensure the effective allocation and recovery of organs. Efficiency & Excellence • Navigate high-pressure, time-sensitive situations with precision and professionalism. • Maintain meticulous attention to detail while navigating time-sensitive and critical situations. • Uphold regulatory guidelines, ethical standards, and best practices in organ donation and transplantation Job Qualifications and Requirements: Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing/RN program, current RN license. Bachelors degree preferred. Experience: Minimum of 2 years of Critical Care, ICU and/or ER experience required. Certificate/License: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required at the time of employment. Required to be Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified within the employee's orientation period. Field type position, traveling between different hospitals where a donor might be • The RN would gather patient information and history, determine if they are eligible to be a donor • Critical thinking is very important • For those coming in a PTC level 2 (Transplant Coordinator RN), there is a career ladder, and can become Advanced Practice Coordinator once they've mastered everything • Training is 3-6 months in total. For 2 months they need to go to San Diego. They will provide hotel and meal stipend. • They are hiring for the PM shift for Carpinteria: work 7 shifts in a 2 week period (4 one week, 3 the next, EOW) 6p-6a, opportunity to work overtime for doubletime pay. • For PTC2 role- starts at 52.54/hour (base rate for first 8 hours, would get 1.5 for last 4 hours) $735.56 per shift (this includes 2.54 night shift differential)- Calculation: (52.54×8)+4(52.54×1.5)=420.32+315.24=735.56 • Must be W-2 (no Visas) • They have a multi-step hiring process (2 week process, 2 or maybe 3 interviews.)- Screening with Patty, then VP of transplant services meets with them. If there is any doubt there will be 1 more with a manager. After the 3rd interview, it has to go to hiring committee, they meet on Wednesday afternoons. They go over everyone in the pipeline and decide whether to extend the offer. • Their office is in Azusa, they would be expected to drive there to meet for VP interview and get a tour of the office. They will be given a personality and computer literacy test
