The first Mortgage Processor plays a vital role in improving the financial lives of Suncoast Credit Union members. Key responsibilities include processing 1st mortgages, FNMA, portfolio, construction, and investor mortgage loans. This individual performs all duties in accordance with credit union policies, procedures, and state regulatory guidelines. An ideal candidate is a courteous individual who provides efficient service with the utmost concern for the confidentiality, security, and privacy of member data.
Responsibilities
Administer tasks to meet all processing conditions associated with the loan approval according to GSE, PMI, FHA, USDA, and credit union guidelines Review documents that support application data such as employment and income Analyze tax returns, asset documentation, payment history, liabilities, and estate owned to validate accurate information Obtain corrections and written explanations for any material discrepancies from the original application Review title insurance commitments, appraisals, surveys, and pest inspections for accurate information Verify adequate hazard and flood insurance coverage Update the loan origination system with verified information and dates to ensure complete and accurate tracking of documents Maintain close communication with all parties involved in the mortgage transaction to ensure timely fulfillment of documentation requirements and established SLA's Conduct phone calls and electronic communications with mortgage applicants to answer questions in accordance with established performance standards and benchmarks Review redisclosure documents and verify the accuracy of items such as loan amount, loan term, rate, and closing costs Prepare and submit completed underwriting files in accordance with guidelines of the Desktop Underwriter, PMI, and other investors if applicable Compare the Loan Estimate and draft Closing Disclosure to review items for accuracy Ensure changes of circumstance are correctly documented and required closing time frames are met Monitor daily pipeline reports and pipeline views to review files in accordance with established performance standards Assist service centers with questions regarding mortgage applications in the processing stage Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent 3+ years of mortgage processing or closing experience 2+ years of Fannie Mae experience preferred Ability to work evening hours outside of normal operating hours Ability to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management Ability to analyze and resolve routine problems or situations Knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance necessary to successfully perform job responsibilities Proficient written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators Ability to communicate information requiring explanation or interpretation Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment Safe Act Statement
This position requires the employee to register as a mortgage loan originator with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS). The employee will obtain a unique identifier from the registry before engaging in mortgage loan originator activities. The employee must maintain and renew the registration on an annual basis, provide updated registration information with the registry on a timely basis, and provide a unique identifier to consumers as required by applicable SAFE Act regulations and Suncoast Credit Union policies and procedures.
