We are actively seeking a
Relay Settings Engineering Lead
to join our progressive organization. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with various electric utility disciplines, playing an essential role in leading and designing utility substation and renewable energy projects. Gaining expertise in NERC PRC compliance, Electrical Power Calculations, and standard development. Working alongside other disciplines including Substation, Protection & Controls, and Civil Structural engineers. Improving your time management and organizational skills. Enhancing your interpersonal skills through client interactions. As the selected candidate, you will be responsible for: Leading a team of over 8 engineers in developing relay settings from 4.16kV to 500kV, including relay set points, logic diagrams, configuration files, and documentation. Utilizing your experience in managing and guiding a team of engineers effectively. Reviewing Client-provided work and assessing project scope requirements. Demonstrating expertise in managing client relationships and collaborating with field engineers. Ensuring compliance with Leidos and Client safety requirements, as well as design and quality expectations. Tackling complex substation engineering challenges throughout the project lifecycle. Clearly communicating design and engineering requirements to internal teams and external vendors on behalf of clients. Collaborating with protection engineers and performing quality reviews on relay setting packages. Creating logic diagrams for IEC61850 substations. Interfacing directly with clients while working with teams across remote office locations. Handling assignments that encompass project planning, design, and construction support. Your qualifications should include: A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with at least 10 years of relevant experience. Proven experience in managing and leading engineering teams. Experience in developing relay settings, settings calculation templates, and logic diagrams is highly preferred. Background working with EPC clients is preferred. Proficiency in using software such as Aspen OneLiner, ETAP, Power Tools SKM, and/or Siemens CAPE for coordination studies and fault analysis. Expertise in preparing protective relay coordination studies. Experience with microprocessor relay settings including SEL, Alstom, GE, ABB, etc., for both transmission and substation relays. Familiarity with software such as Schweitzer AcSELerator QuickSet, General Electric EnerVista, and Schneider Electric MiCOM is a plus. Strong engineering skills coupled with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality. Capability to interpret schematics and wiring diagrams while implementing relay logic. Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines. A collaborative team player with a proactive approach to work. Strong written and verbal communication skills for interactions with clients and staff. Proficient computer skills. You may also have: Experience in preparing technical reports. Expertise in developing proposals. Familiarity with PTC MathCAD software. A background in Quality Assurance/Quality Control. Willingness to travel periodically (about 15%). Experience in relay testing and troubleshooting. Previous experience in Power Consulting or the power utility sector.
