Become a Volunteer Program Naturalist at Standley Lake Regional Park and Wildlife Refuge. Program Naturalist Volunteer Volunteers interested in education can assist the full time Park Naturalist with nature programs for patrons of all ages as well as large school or summer camp programs. The Program Naturalist Volunteer will be trained to be comfortable and knowledgeable about the program prior to the program date. Leading table talks is another option for those interested in being a Program Naturalist Volunteer. The volunteer will have a table set up near a popular trail with educational materials such as pelts, skulls, magnifying glasses, photos and/or binoculars to educate patrons who stop by. Part of this position is making friendly contact with park patrons and establishing a presence on the trails and throughout the park. Program Naturalist Volunteers also have the opportunity to lead or co-lead a public program if there is an environmental topic they know well. Good customer service skills. Knowledge of Colorado flora/fauna is helpful for those interested in educational opportunities, but training materials will be provided. Ability to perform light to moderate physical work in outdoor conditions. Volunteers serve in up to 4 programs per year. Times vary.
