Overview
Talascend is currently seeking an Electrician for a direct hire opportunity with our client in Lakewood, New York.
The role involves troubleshooting, assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical systems using necessary tools to ensure equipment availability and capability. The position requires understanding safety protocols when working with electricity and industrial equipment, and may involve independent work as well as instructing or coaching others.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring safety by stopping work and reporting any major injury hazards immediately.
- Adhering to HSE standards and reporting work-related injuries, illnesses, incidents, or hazards.
- Recognizing the environmental impact of work and striving to minimize negative effects.
- Applying high standards of workmanship and craftsmanship to ensure reliability and efficiency.
- Providing feedback into the Preventive Maintenance system and supporting equipment uptime and downtime failure analysis.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, electrical repairs, and maintenance to ensure equipment operates smoothly.
- Instructing and coaching others to foster a collaborative team environment.
- Actively participating in continuous improvement activities and TPM teams.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience.
- Must possess 7 years experience working in the relevant Trade field.
- Successful completion of an approved 4-year, 8000 hours on-the-job training apprenticeship program with the related course of study, plus 1 year working in the pertinent Trade Field.
- 2-year Technical Degree in the related field (Machine Repair, Electrical), plus 3 years experience working in the field of this particular Skilled Trade.
Requirements
- Significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on-the-job experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of the NEC and IEC (National Electrical Code and Industrial Electrical Code) is required along with training, authorization, and certification in 70E.
- Knowledge and troubleshooting skills of PLC, HMI, Servo Drives, CNC, automation, and Robotic controls is required.
- Completion of PM and WO's task along with failure remarks are required to be done in the Maximo system.
- Ability to make decisions based on knowledge of schematics, blueprints, technical drawings, etc.
- Familiar with the use of various electrical tools and able to safely use them 100% of the time.
- Flexibility within the job scope to complete tasks in a manner that reduces or eliminates downtime.
- Provide active training and act as a mentor for the Skilled Trades Apprenticeship Program.
Shift
Full-Time (Onsite); mandatory overtime and weekend work expected.
