Milieu Counselor

Location:

Scottsdale, AZ

The Milieu Counselor is responsible for providing direct client care services at the residential behavioral health facility and Campus as part of a multidisciplinary clinical team. Under the Supervision of a licensed clinical provider, the therapist in training fulfills direct service, including individual, couple/family and group psychotherapy, consultations, and crisis intervention. The Milieu Counselor provide oversight and services for the licensed residential behavioral health facility, including support with meals, medication-management, house activities and other duties as relevant to the needs of the residential milieu and community.

Pay: Between $55,000 - $65,000 annually

Responsibilities Carry a clinical case load of group, individual and coaching sessions, which is determined by the Clinical Residential Program Supervisor. Attend Clinical Oversight Groups, as scheduled. Conduct and participate in assessments of clients at the time of admission and reassessments as required. With the guidance of a supervisor, initiates treatment planning and responsible use of resources. Ability to participate in the development and implementation of comprehensive treatment plans drawing on the full scope of clinical data available in each care. Support, with clinical evidence, a continuum of care that considers length-of-stay and evidence for the need for continuum of care. Maintain active presence in the therapeutic milieu and proactively attend to emergent issues and dynamics as needed to help manage the day-to-day clinical program. Participate in the effective operation of milieu-related activities ensuring client safety and participation, as well as supporting clients in adhering to the program and housing guidelines and expectations. Support group facilitators with milieu related meetings including enforcement of milieu rules and structure and supporting clients in adhering to the program expectations and responsibilities in treatment. Remain updated on clients' treatment plans and clinical structures and support adherence to those structures during 1:1 shift, house/room checks, and any milieu interactions, community outings, etc. Assist clients in completion of counseling assignments and appointments. Provide clients with transportation and support, as needed, to medical appointments, outside recovery meetings, grocery shopping trips, recreational outings and other appointments, as indicated. Oversee clients' self-administration of medication and report any concerns to the team. Conduct UA testing as needed. Model and reinforce positive behaviors of clients, and promotes social interaction by conversing with them, participating in activities with them, etc. Qualifications

Master's degree in counseling or psychology-related field. License eligible for LAMFT, LAC, LMSW, preferred. Experience working with various DSM-V mental health diagnoses, including acute/severe mental illness and co-occurring disorders. A knowledge base of various theoretical orientations and application of interventions such as family systems therapy, CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, EMDR and/or somatic-based therapies, and trauma-informed approaches. Case management and discharge planning experience. Experience working with family members, referents, and other providers of the clients is preferred. Experience in milieu therapy is preferred. Clinical experience within a behavioral health residential setting preferred. Physical Demands
