Controls Engineer – Greenville, SC
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join a fast-paced manufacturing environment, specializing in PLC programming, electrical design, continuous improvement, and custom product development. This role combines hands-on engineering, project management, and customer interaction to support both existing product lines and the development of new machinery.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and program PLC systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Pro-Logic, Compact Logic, Productivity) using ladder logic, sequential function charts, function block diagrams, and structural test logic. Develop and implement HMI displays for machines and remote interfaces. Work with SCADA systems and Factory Talk software for industrial monitors. Perform electrical design using AutoCAD, including creation of electrical BOMs. Assist with equipment set-up, inspection, and troubleshooting at manufacturing sites. Provide cost estimates based on customer requirements and available resources. Develop initial quality and inspection documentation. Organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and projects effectively. Provide technical support and customer service, including answering questions and troubleshooting. Participate in R&D and manufacturing process improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility with demonstrated teamwork and customer interaction. Strong technical background in PLC programming and industrial control systems. Hands-on experience designing HMI logic and integrating SCADA systems. Proficiency in electrical design using AutoCAD. Ability to develop electrical BOMs and quality documentation. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Trade school or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
Preferred Qualifications:
Manufacturing and R&D experience in textiles, nonwovens, or cut-and-sew industries. Certification in PLC programming or relevant automation technologies.
Work Schedule:
Initial assignment in Bethune, SC: rotating four-day and three-day workweeks. Transition to main Greenville, SC facility upon project completion: standard Monday–Friday schedule with occasional travel for project start-ups.
