This position pays $106,500.00 Annually

The Glass Furnace Engineer will provide expertise support of glass melters withing the North American facilities that use glass melting technologies. This position will diagnose and troubleshoot areas within the furnace and batch operations in order to meet production rate requirements. Must be able to provide expertise support of glass melters that use glass furnacing technologies. Must be able to diagnose and troubleshoot areas within the furnace melter, throat, distributor, forehearth, and batching operations in order to meet production rate requirements.

Job Responsibilities: Developing and implementing procedures and systems to ensure glass/products consistently meet or exceed customer expectations, including supporting experiments or trials for new and existing products Conducts process audits to review Critical Process Variables and implementing sustainable corrective actions for process shifts or upsets Understands current manufacturing process capability, drives to reduce variation, and ensures product quality and consistency Coaching and training operators in the batch and melter areas; Partners with maintenance, operations, and other members of technical team to resolve equipment issues and improve equipment reliability Demonstrate the ability to develop and meet key milestones, to work and communicate effectively with people at all levels within organization and to technically contribute to the development of the process solutions Developing, evaluating, improving, and implementing control plans and standard work to ensure that all processes and products meet specifications Ability to identify and make recommendations for the optimization of glass furnaces Provide support for Furnance efficiency, temperature and process controls. Analyzing process data, providing feedback, and making recommendations to optimize performance Ability to use glass automation controls systems, PLC's HMI, Control Room; Advise and aid in the area of glass furnace controls system Advise on the efficient use of utilities (electricity, gas, etc.) Advise on helping batch raw materials stay within allowable tolerance Partner with relevant stakeholders to identify and address process improvement opportunities to eliminate waste, enhance safety, reduce cost, increase capacity and productivity, and improve the products Knowledgeable and can provide technical expertise in Glass Furnace; Respond to plant emergency situations affecting efficiency, glass quality, or safety of plant and employee.

Minimum Requirements:

Highschool diploma or GED

AND

15 yrs of Glass Furnace Engineering Experience

OR

Bachelor's degree in Science of Engineering preferred Chemical, Glass or Ceramic Engineering

AND

5 yrs of glass furnace engineering, and 5yrs of glass composition batching operations.

Skills & Knowledge:

Attention to detail and strong organization skills

Ability to work with different Stakeholders Training

Certification/Registrations :

AutoCAD Certification or Equivalent Experience

Extra Skills and Qualifications: Preferred

Knowledge and experience utilizing furnace controls, PLC and HMI interfaces
