William Charles Construction, a MasTec Company, is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Estimator with a strong background in heavy civil, highways, and roadways. This position is pivotal in delivering precise takeoff and cost estimates for essential construction elements, including earthwork, aggregates, underground utilities, and paving.
**This role may be based at our local offices in Rockford, IL, Indianapolis, IN, or Springfield, IL. A remote/hybrid arrangement is possible for qualified candidates, ideally with experience in Indiana or Illinois DOT work. Increased travel may accompany your location.

Responsibilities:
Thoroughly review, analyze, and interpret contract documents to ensure accurate and comprehensive cost estimates.
Develop preliminary budget estimates and itemized summaries for opportunity pursuits to facilitate go/no-go evaluations.
Identify critical issues while creating a risk exposure summary and associated cost impacts.
Employ creative and innovative strategies to enhance analysis and value engineering solutions.
Communicate effectively with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Conduct and review quantity takeoff comparisons for accuracy and acceptance evaluations.
Collaborate with scheduling staff and Operations to create precise bid schedules.
Present thorough and accurate estimates, fostering confidence in decision-making processes.
Represent the company during pre-bids and site visits.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Construction Management with relevant field experience.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in heavy civil estimating.
Extensive experience in earthwork and underground work is essential; knowledge of PCC paving and concrete is a bonus.
Requirements:
Extensive knowledge of earthwork, underground drainage, sewer, watermain, and general roadway construction, with preference given to IDOT and/or INDOT experience.
Demonstrated attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
Highly motivated self-starter.
Able to efficiently manage time and prioritize tasks.
Occasional travel for pre-bids, site visits, and meetings will be required.
Thrives in fast-paced environments, delivering results under tight deadlines.
Proficient in Bid2Win or similar estimating software; exceptional Microsoft Office skills are a must. Familiarity with Primavera P6, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD is advantageous.
Strong analytical and mathematical acumen.
Work Environment:
This position will involve a mix of office work and occasional site visits.
Travel between the offices in Illinois and Indiana is likely.
Site visits may necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and exposure to outdoor conditions.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
Prolonged periods of sitting or standing during estimation tasks.
Occasional travel to job sites for project assessments.
