Job Description Summary

BASIC FUNCTION:

Design, manage, and direct subject-based tutoring programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate all subject-based tutoring programs at the Academic Enhancement Center (AEC) in collaboration with the other Coordinator(s), UC/Academic Enhancement Center (Tutoring Programs).

Collaboratively supervise all forms of tutoring programs' planning, delivery, and evaluation.

Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise peer tutoring staff.

Conduct observations of tutors and provide feedback.

Plan and execute pre-service training and in-service training/professional development for tutor and receptionist student staff.

Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student organizations.

Initiate and/or maintain faculty partnerships across campus.

Conduct regular outreach to faculty instructing courses tutored by AEC student staff for updated syllabus and course resources as well as tutor recruitment.

Communicate consistently with faculty to share trends in tutoring such as visit and usage data.

Coordinate central administration reception function, including hiring, training, and supervising reception staff.

Manage payroll for all tutoring program and reception staff.

Learn and administer tutorial technology system (TutorTrac) for optimal functionality.

Set goals and track progress of tutoring programs; report data to the Director consistently.

Utilize data for program planning, assessment and evaluation.

Collaborate with tutoring coordinator(s) and part-time staff to assist in supervision of AEC satellite spaces.

Explore opportunities for collaboration and/or pilot programs with campus partners.

Regularly contribute to the AEC social media pages, platforms, and website.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work collaboratively with all other AEC program coordinators under the supervision and guidance of the AEC Director to ensure continuous progress and alignment with strategic goals.

Work collaboratively with all other AEC program coordinators under the supervision and guidance of the AEC Director to represent all AEC programs at class visits, campus events, and throughout the community.

Attend to the tutoring center spaces: ensure that space is well-supplied, orderly, and that the technology is functioning properly.

Perform other duties as required.

LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:

Personal computers, printers; word processing, database and spreadsheet software; Google workspace; video and audio conferencing; graphic design platforms.

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED :

1. Master's degree with two years of experience with learning skills development OR, Bachelor's degree with five years of experience with learning skills development.

2. Minimum one year of experience in advising, teaching, tutoring, academic support or as a learning specialist (may include work as a graduate assistant).

3. Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable student populations.

4. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

5. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.

6. Demonstrated organizational skills.

7. Demonstrated supervisory experience.

8. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.

9. Demonstrated experience and dedication to integrating issues of inclusion, equity and social justice in your work.

10. Demonstrated experience with data collection and analysis.

11. Demonstrated strong attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

PREFERRED :

1. Demonstrated experience in a Learning Center environment with exposure to course connected learning assistance models, peer-led learning support, and knowledge of tutorial best practices.

2. Demonstrated tutoring skills.
