A Brief Summary of This Position:

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and reviewing all activities related to production planning, scheduling and dispatching to satisfy customer requirements and site divisional objectives. This position is responsible for insuring on-time shipments of all customer orders and maintaining daily schedules for all operations, while coordinating all activities related to product flow through the manufacturing cycle. This position is responsible for seeking and implementing best practices shared by division leaders.

Salaried On-Site Position

Starting Pay Range $86,200 - $107,800

Essential Functions:

Ensure safety polices are understood and adhered to by all direct reports

Responsible for directing the departmental activities in order to meet or exceed profit objectives of the site

Develops the master production schedule, long-range material requirements plan and the long-range and short-range capacity plan

Collaborates with the S&OP team in the scheduling of incoming customer sales orders while monitoring, analyzing and reporting on both the actual and forecasted customer backlog

Makes recommendations and decisions considering order administration lead times and production rates

Monitors and coordinates all activities between production control, manufacturing, traffic and shipping and act as a liaison between Project Administrator and Production Control on schedule changes & special handling of critical sales orders

Manages and directs all activities of scheduling, programming & shop floor and shipping schedules

Monitors manufacturing's performance to the agreed upon production plan and recommends corrective action as required to complement the manufacturing, customer service, and inventory objectives

Identify and dispose of excess and obsolete inventory in a manner that will enhance and assure attainment of site objectives

Identifies and analyzes specific problems associated with information flow, data collection, and existing computer systems

Provides direction and training for all department personnel while maintaining a high degree of morale and initiative

Monitors, analyzes, and reports on both the actual and forecasted customer backlog

Makes recommendations and decisions considering lead-times and production rates

Makes decisions or recommendations on inventory policies, computer programs or systems that will affect operating costs and site/division policies

Obtains and coordinates special customer requirements as identified by the marketing organization

Manage the preparation of accurately purchased raw material requirements and master schedules to Purchasing

Accountable for annual administrative budget and performance to those budgets

Plans and delegates regular and special assignments to ensure proper performance of the material and inventory control departments

Maintain current job description, objectives, procedures, discipline and control over all dept. personnel as indicated by divisional and corporate policy

Other Important Details about the Role:

The incumbent must possess proven problem-solving abilities to react quickly to the conditions of a changing manufacturing plan while maintaining plant objectives and administrative budgeted expenses.

The incumbent is also accountable for inventory levels in the component and finished good areas.

The incumbent must also possess sufficient skills to communicate and provide motivation to his subordinates to attain plant objectives while exhibiting aggressive leadership, sound analytical and technical ability, initiative, cooperation, and enthusiasm in developing and establishing procedures, objectives, and long- and short-term plans and maintain a high degree of professionalism in both the personnel he directs and the other departments of the plant.

The incumbent must possess strong written and verbal communication skills while dealing with department managers, staff personnel, production managers, supervisors, off-site locations, and outside vendors to assure attainment of divisional objectives while maintaining an environment of flexibility, control and creativity.

The incumbent must have knowledge of and stay current with the ever-changing environment of manufacturing, marketing and engineering to make sound and logical decisions or recommendations which can directly affect the operating costs and profitability of the entire division.

The incumbent must develop, recommend and maintain logical production plans that will determine and affect both long and short-range staffing levels and facility resources in the manufacturing areas.

The incumbent must perform his duties with minimal direct supervision.

The incumbent should have a college degree and/or management experience in manufacturing, production operations or materials.

The incumbent must have thorough knowledge of all manufacturing functions.

The incumbent must have good understanding of the various "systems" and how they affect the manufacturing process.

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

Related Degree with at least 3 to 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment

High level of interpersonal skills and analytical capabilities

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering or related discipline

10 years of progressive experience in a Manufacturing Environment

Certification of APICS

Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Practices

Working Environment and Physical Efforts:

Work is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. Environment is fast paced and demanding most of the time. No travel requirements for this position. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrists rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Incumbent will also be exposed to production facilities where specific PPE will be required such as hand, hearing, foot, eye, and head protection. There will also be frequent exposure to outside elements for short periods of time. Being outside will also expose them to material handling equipment such as forklifts, straddle trucks, and shag trucks.
