Column Technical Services is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented

FinOps Specialist

with strong expertise in

Amazon Web Services (AWS)

to join our team. This role is pivotal in driving financial accountability and optimizing cloud spend across AWS environments we care for. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of cloud cost management principles, infrastructure usage patterns, and FinOps practices that promote cross-functional collaboration between Finance, Engineering, and Product teams.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze AWS cost and usage data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities. Develop and maintain cloud cost dashboards, reports, and KPIs to improve financial visibility. Collaborate with engineering teams to optimize resource utilization and implement tagging strategies. Partner with finance and procurement to forecast cloud spending and align with budgets. Lead initiatives to improve cloud cost governance, including chargeback/showback models. Educate internal stakeholders on FinOps best practices and drive adoption across teams. Evaluate third-party tools and AWS-native services to support FinOps processes. Stay current on AWS pricing models, Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, and optimization techniques. Job Requirements

Qualifications

3 to 5 years of FinOps or cloud financial management experience, with a strong focus on AWS. Solid understanding of AWS services and pricing constructs (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS). Experience with cloud cost management tools such as CloudHealth, Cloudability, or AWS Cost Explorer. Familiarity with tagging strategies, allocation methodologies, and cloud governance frameworks. Proficient in data analysis (Excel, SQL, or BI tools like Tableau or Power BI). Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. FinOps Foundation certification or AWS Cloud Practitioner certification is a plus. Bonus Skills

Experience with multi-cloud environments (e.g., Azure, GCP). Scripting or automation skills (e.g., Python, Terraform). Background in accounting, finance, or procurement.
