The Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine, through its affiliated nonprofit organization-the Coalition for Osteopathic Excellence (COE)-is seeking a dynamic and strategic

Philanthropy Officer

to lead and expand its fundraising initiatives. This pivotal role will focus on cultivating meaningful donor relationships, advancing philanthropic engagement, and securing vital support for student success and institutional growth. Working closely with COE Board members and College leadership, the Philanthropy Officer will play a key role in communicating the impact of giving, advocating for student needs, and fostering a culture of generosity both regionally and nationally.

The Philanthropy Officer is responsible for fundraising efforts benefitting the Burrell College (College)'s students and mission-driven activities, to be conducted through the Coalition for Osteopathic Excellence (COE), a separate nonprofit organization dedicated to the support of the College and its students. The Philanthropy Officer will be responsible for the development and coordination of philanthropic engagements and for donor relations management. The Philanthropy Officer will work collaboratively with COE Board members and with College leadership, faculty, and staff to provide donor education, advocacy for student support, updates on gifting impact and communications through various channels, and to solicit and develop principal gift prospects. The Philanthropy Officer will coordinate and cultivate donors in the College's service area and nationally. This position is exempt. This position reports to the President of the College. The selected candidate will support Burrell College's organizational health initiatives, focusing on enhancing leadership, promoting clarity of purpose, improving communication, and reinforcing a respectful, purpose-driven culture. This role is key to fostering a healthy, high-performing organization that values integrity, transparency, and collaboration. Examples of Duties

Develop and maintain donor engagement initiatives, including developing and managing a portfolio of major gift and principal prospects, conducting research, closing major gifts and principal gifts, and building an ongoing public outreach for minor donations through events and employee giving campaigns. Develop and execute strategic donor cultivation plans, including major and principal gifts, public and employee appeals, annual giving campaigns, and planned giving opportunities. Support College's alumni development and cultivation initiatives; include alumni, parents, and friends of the College in solicitations and other development activities. Communicate regularly and effectively through various channels, including appeals, letters, publications, social media outreach, newsletters, storytelling, public speaking, and reports. Manage COE social media and website. Coordinate efforts with the College Marketing and Communications department. Research grant opportunities, submit grant applications, administer grant funding for the benefit of the College and the COE, and maintain grantor relationships. Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, volunteers, and partners; involve stakeholders in both planning and execution of outreach activities. Implement and coordinate a broad-based strategy of donor recognition, stewardship, and donor communications. Manage donor gift acknowledgements and provide stewardship reports on endowed funds and major and principal gifts. Plan and execute cultivation and stewardship events; proactively identify opportunities to communicate with donors and alumni. Maintain donor management systems and databases; generate regular reports and metrics. Represent the COE and the College at a variety of events and donor meetings. Other duties as assigned. Other skills important to this position : Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to organize information. Ability to plan and execute events effectively. Ability to handle sensitive information with absolute confidentiality. Working knowledge of software applications including Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Ability to make decisions independently and to exercise judgment as to when to escalate issues as needed. Marketing, graphic design, and social networking experience. Strong organizational and planning skills that reflect the ability to prioritize competing demands, and complete action items within established timelines. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required. Seven years of directly related experience required. Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification preferred. Relevant experience in an educational or healthcare setting preferred. Supplemental Information

This job is conducted in an office work environment. Approximately 90% of this position's duties require the use of a computer. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal. Travel will be required quarterly or as needed both within the College's service area and nationally. Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday, 8 am-5 pm May require evenings and weekends.
