CMXO FUNCTION DESCRIPTION: The Home Equity Underwriter Lead assists the management team in the direction and administration of the department to ensure the duties and responsibilities assigned to respective employees are carried out effectively, systematically, and cost-efficiently. The Underwriter Lead is a producing Lead who reviews and analyzes home equity loan applications to determine applicant eligibility based on financial and creditworthiness criteria. They assess risks, evaluate income, credit history, employment, debt-to-income ratio, available equity, and other factors. The role includes monitoring pipeline allocation, mentoring team members, providing technical expertise, and participating in quality control and organizational projects. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to: Senior Manager - Real Estate Servicing and Processing Contacts: Credit union employees, auditors, vendors, members QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Experience: Minimum 4 years residential underwriting experience, preferably with Home Equity Knowledge of lending guidelines including state, federal, and fair lending laws Education:
Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience preferred Skills: Ability to work in a members first environment with sound underwriting decisions Understanding of credit reporting and analysis Ability to analyze income documentation and perform cash flow analysis Knowledge of appraisal, property data, title documents, and lending guidelines Proficiency in Microsoft Office Strong analytical, decision-making, communication, and mentoring skills Ability to manage time effectively and maintain confidentiality ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Demonstrate Bellcos Act Nice Behaviors and Core Values Manage pipeline and ensure SLA compliance Accurately underwrite home equity lines of credit Perform accurate math computations related to income, ratios, and loan values Ensure compliance with all regulations and guidelines Make final underwriting decisions within authority Contribute to compliance and quality initiatives Manage fluctuating volumes and assist in pipeline distribution Identify training needs and lead on-the-job training Ensure member satisfaction across all channels Report on vendor performance and collaborate internally to resolve issues Maintain punctuality and attendance Management may adjust duties as needed.
