Job Summary
The Industrial Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical, electrical, and conveying systems in an industrial setting, particularly focusing on poultry egg processing plant machinery. This role is vital for ensuring the seamless operation of equipment, which directly contributes to achieving daily production goals and maintaining safety standards.
Essential Job Functions Perform advanced maintenance and repairs on industrial machinery, including automation, mechanical, electrical, and conveying systems, using manufacturer recommendations and company SOPs. Diagnose and address root causes of mechanical and electrical issues, performing repairs such as welding, fabricating parts, plumbing, or replacing defective components. Conduct scheduled conveyor maintenance and sustain the Preventative Maintenance Program for all processing equipment. Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures. Use test equipment to diagnose system controls, software issues, and malfunctioning machine components. Troubleshoot and repair or replace drive chains, gears, belts, pulleys, shafts, rollers, electric motors, and gearboxes. Communicate with management to maintain adequate tools and supplies for repairs and initiate purchase orders as needed. Maintain tools in clean and good working conditions and keep the work area organized. Provide leadership and decision-making in the absence of supervision and assist in training other technicians. Promote safety culture by following safe work practices and identifying and correcting unsafe conditions. Adhere to compliance, food safety, and biosecurity rules, policies, and procedures, reporting violations to a supervisor. Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of training and experience. Additional trade or technical school education in maintenance, mechanical, welding, HVAC, or electrical, or equivalent hands-on experience. At least 3 years of experience in industrial, commercial, or facility systems maintenance. Strong problem-solving, project management, and planning skills. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and management. Preferred Qualifications
Skills in diagnostics, advanced electrical, electrical testing devices, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. Maintenance experience in the food, poultry, or agriculture industry. Previous leadership experience is a plus. Experience with safety equipment such as LOTO, harnesses, lanyards, hoists, and PPE. Work Environment
The role requires working in an industrial setting with exposure to mechanical and electrical systems. Candidates must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull 75+ lbs and be prepared for physical activities such as walking, climbing (ladders and stairs), standing, and sitting for long periods. The work environment may include tight spaces and requires adherence to safety protocols. Overtime, weekend, and holiday hours may be required based on production demand.
