Working in collaboration with neonatologists, NNP's are responsible for the day to day management of critically ill and convalescing infants in - leading care and coordinating the efforts of the health care team. This includes specialized neonatal care i.e. delivery room resuscitation, stabilization, initiation of infant treatment and necessary procedures, prescribing diagnostic testing, medications, and therapies, and providing family support. NNP's are in a leadership position in the NICU. Additional responsibilities include select nursing and medical staff education; consultation; advocacy for patients, families, and nursing staff; involvement in professional development and research; participation and leadership in unit committees and councils; improvement of unit-specific neonatal outcomes.

This position requires:

Professional level of knowledge within nursing that is acquired through completion of a Master's Degree in Nursing. Nurse Practitioner certification, a license as an Advanced Nurse Prescriber in the state of WI and a DEA number required. 2+ years clinical experience required. Current CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross and NRP certification required.
