Job Description Job Title: RN - PACU
Profession: RN Specialty: Post Anesthesia Recovery Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 09:00 - 21:30 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 Year License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS ACLS
Must-Have: Candidates must have Critical Care Experience, including titrating drips, caring for intubated patients, and caring for patients on a ventilator. Candidates should also have experience caring for patients on BiPAP/CPAP.
Description: This position is for a contract RN in the Post Anesthesia Recovery Unit with a duration of 13 weeks. The shift hours will be from 09:00 to 21:30. Call may be required for this role. The unit consists of 10 beds with a staff of 24, including a Charge RN and several RNs during day and evening shifts. Patient ratios in Phase 1 PACU are up to 2 patients per RN, while in Phase 2 PACU, the ratio is up to 3 patients per RN. Patients may be held for rooms upstairs, and the ratio could change based on patient acuity and level of care ordered. Equipment used includes GE bedside monitors and EMR software. Candidates will be prioritized if they have previous experience in Phase 1 PACU at a Trauma Center Level 1 or 2, as well as experience with Meditech. Typical duties include monitoring vital signs every 5 minutes, administering pain medication per anesthesia orders, and providing discharge education in Phase 2 PACU. A flexible, organized, and efficient team player is the ideal personality fit for this position. The dress code requires navy scrubs, but hospital OR scrubs are an option as well. Centralized transport is available for transporting patients. This unit offers the opportunity to work with new equipment and technology and benefits from the extensive tenure and experience of its staff.
