The Sharon Public Schools is seeking a .6 FTE Physical Therapist starting in the 25-26 school year.
This position provides school-based physical therapy as a related service in the least restrictive environment for the purpose of enhancing students' ability to physically access their learning environment and/or curriculum.
The PT designs and performs therapeutic interventions, including compensation, remediation, and prevention strategies as well as adaptations and accommodations. All this is done to provide students with functional mobility and safe, efficient access and participation in educational activities and routines in natural learning environments. IEP development and implementation including participation in the TEAM process, as well as progress monitoring, are essential components of the school-based physical therapist's position.
Reports to: Building Principal(s)/ Director of Student Services
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree, DPT (if applicable) Minimum of 3 years' experience in PT; school setting preferred Ability to handle multitude of varying and complex issues Excellent oral and written communication skills Licensed as a PT in Massachusetts Job Functions:
Evaluate and address motor skills that limit the student's ability to participate and succeed at school; factors limiting education, socialization at school, and independent functioning at school should all be included Provide direct or consultative services; modify or adapt school environments, tools, or materials as needed in order to support a student in accessing the educational curriculum and environment as independently as possible Selecting, administering, and interpreting a variety of screening instruments and standardized measurement tools for students pre k-12 Measuring and documenting student progress resulting from the designed physical therapy interventions, as well as writing progress reports Participating in the IEP/504 process, including collaboratively determining the need for physical therapy as a related service under IDEA or as a reasonable accommodation under Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Support students in accessing their school environment and curriculum Select, modify, or customize adaptive equipment and assistive technology Travel to and among schools to provide services and attend meetings Lift, transfer, and position students and equipment as necessary Responsible for implementing "other job-related duties" as needed
Salary commensurate with experience in accordance with the Sharon Teachers Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
