Position Overview

DirectViz Solutions (DVS) is seeking a highly skilled

Cribl Engineer

to join our team supporting mission-critical cybersecurity and IT operations. This role will focus on designing, deploying, and maintaining observability data pipelines using

Cribl Stream and Edge

in hybrid cloud and on-premises environments. The successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing data ingestion, ensuring complete visibility across enterprise systems, and supporting security, compliance, and operational efficiency.

This position is integral to enabling our SOC Engineering team to normalize diverse log sources, close visibility gaps, and maximize the capabilities of Splunk and Cribl platforms while maintaining high availability.

Key Responsibilities

Cribl Administration & Pipeline Engineering Administer, configure, and maintain the

Cribl Stream platform

as the primary data processing layer prior to Splunk ingestion.

Design, build, and optimize

Cribl pipelines

to filter, enrich, and route logs, metrics, and traces to Splunk and other downstream platforms.

Ensure pipelines meet performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency requirements while maintaining fidelity and compliance.

Integration & Observability Support Integrate Cribl with SIEMs, observability platforms, cloud services, and storage (Splunk, Elastic, Datadog, ServiceNow, AWS, etc.).

Collaborate with cybersecurity, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to provide complete end-to-end observability.

Install, configure, and support Splunk environments in both cloud and on-prem architectures.

Operations & Troubleshooting Monitor Cribl system health and performance, proactively troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Implement upgrades, patches, and configuration changes to support evolving requirements.

Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles for repeatable deployments and ongoing support.

Automation & Compliance Develop automation scripts and configuration-as-code for consistent, repeatable deployments.

Tune pipelines to meet federal compliance and security standards (FedRAMP, FISMA, DoD RMF).

Required Qualifications

5+ years

of experience in IT Operations, Observability, or Data Engineering roles.

Hands-on expertise with

Cribl Stream

(Edge/Search preferred).

Strong knowledge of log/metric/trace collection and routing protocols (e.g., Syslog, JSON, REST APIs, Kafka).

Experience with observability/security tools such as

Splunk, Elastic, Datadog, Prometheus, or Grafana .

Proficiency in

scripting languages

(Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.).

Familiarity with

RHEL, Windows administration, and cloud platforms

(AWS, Azure, GCP).

Understanding of

federal security and compliance frameworks .

Active

Secret clearance .

Preferred Qualifications

Cribl Certified Admin or Architect

certification.

Experience with

OpenTelemetry , distributed tracing, and log enrichment.

Background in

cybersecurity operations, SIEM management, or DevOps/SRE .

Security certifications such as

Security+ CE, CISSP, or equivalent .

Physical and Mental Qualifications:

Maintain focus and awareness throughout scheduled working hours.

Perform tasks requiring prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk, utilizing a computer, mouse, and keyboard.

Lift and move objects weighing up to 15 pounds as needed.

Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a strong command of the English language.

Demonstrate the ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team.

Quickly learn and retain routine tasks and processes.

Possess strong organizational skills, attention to detail, business correspondence proficiency, and self-management capabilities.
