Civil Engineer 5 - Project Technical Leader / Conveyance (SME)
Join teams locally and across the West Coast, working on a portfolio of large diameter water, water reuse, and wastewater conveyance projects with our Water Services Group. Your tasks could include: Creating and signing off on basic to highly complex engineering designs involving conveyance systems, hydraulics and hydrology calculations, water distribution systems, collection systems, site layout development, site grading and drainage, storage tanks and impoundments, foundation designs, and stormwater infrastructure. Leading design teams, managing their technical work, schedule progress, and quality review process. Providing construction support services, including submittal and RFI reviews, design change reviews, site visits, and construction management services. Conducting master planning, research, modeling, and conceptual design. Reviewing draft designs and reports for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and requirements. Performing site reviews and studies, as needed, to ensure designs are aligned with location specifications. Updating design requirements as necessary. Providing technical guidance and training to more junior staff, reviewing the work of more junior staff. This role requires strong communication and teamwork with staff in our local and regional offices and various engineering disciplines in other offices. In addition, this employee would have an opportunity to represent CDM Smith at conferences and provide technical support on business development opportunities. Professional engineering (PE) license. 7 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Knowledge of computer assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
