We are looking for a seasoned
z/OS Mainframe Systems Manager
to lead the team responsible for our IBM mainframe environment. This role blends
strategic leadership
with
hands-on technical oversight : you'll guide a team of engineers, set priorities, and ensure the stability and performance of critical infrastructure, while remaining technically fluent enough to evaluate solutions and support complex troubleshooting. Responsibilities
Lead and develop a team of mainframe systems engineers, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback. Own the strategic direction of mainframe operations, including capacity planning, modernization initiatives, and vendor management. Oversee the installation, maintenance, customization, and support of the IBM z/OS operating system and related sub-products. Manage installation and support of third-party mainframe software, with emphasis on IBM and BMC solutions. Provide oversight and guidance on hardware configurations and associated software tools to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Ensure proper configuration and security of RACF, TCP/IP, SMTP, FTP, SMS, Infoprint, and TLS environments. Partner with infrastructure, application, and security teams to deliver high availability and compliance with corporate standards. Drive process improvement and automation efforts to enhance efficiency and reduce risk. Prepare and manage budgets for mainframe operations and engage with vendors for support and contract negotiations. Required Qualifications
Proven experience managing or leading mainframe engineering or operations teams. Deep technical understanding of IBM z/OS installation, maintenance, and system customization. Working knowledge of RACF, TCP/IP, SMTP, FTP, SMS, Infoprint, and TLS. Familiarity with mainframe hardware configurations and supporting software tools. Experience with IBM and BMC mainframe software products. Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience. Experience with mainframe modernization or hybrid cloud strategies. IBM or BMC technical certifications. Seniority level
