The Director of IT Portfolio and Project Management is a strategic leader responsible for setting the framework for the full lifecycle of IT investmentsincluding projects, programs, services, and capabilities. This role ensures that the IT portfolio is aligned with enterprise strategy, delivers measurable business value, and is managed with transparency, governance, and agility. The Director leads the IT PMO and portfolio management functions, driving prioritization, resource optimization, and performance across all technology initiatives. Essential Responsibilities: Develop and implement the strategic vision for the PMO, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership and stakeholders to understand business needs and priorities. Lead and develop a team of project managers, portfolio analysts, and PMO staff. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Portfolio Management: Own and evolve the enterprise IT portfolio framework to include projects, services, capabilities, and strategic initiatives. Maintain a multi-dimensional view of the portfolio, including financials, resource demand, lifecycle stage, and performance metrics. Facilitate portfolio reviews and governance forums, enabling informed decision-making and continuous alignment with business goals. Project & Program Delivery: Oversee the execution of IT projects and programs, ensuring delivery on time, within scope and budget, and with high quality. Implement and scale project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) tailored to initiative type and complexity. Ensure consistent use of tools and templates for planning, tracking, and reporting. Monitor and report on project performance, risks, and issues to senior management. Financial & Resource Management: Collaborate with Finance to manage portfolio-level budgets, forecasts, and resource capacity planning. Identify opportunities for cost optimization and strategic sourcing. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance PMO processes and practices. Stay abreast of industry trends and incorporate best practices into the PMO framework. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, translating strategic goals into actionable portfolio plans. Communicate portfolio health, risks, and opportunities through executive dashboards and reports. Other Responsibilities: Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs. Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field (Master's preferred). 10+ years of experience in IT portfolio, program, and project management, including leadership roles. Deep understanding of portfolio management across multiple dimensionsprojects, products, services, and capabilities. Experience with portfolio management tools (e.g., ServiceNow, ADO, Jira). Strong financial acumen and experience managing multi-million-dollar portfolios. Certifications such as PMP, PfMP, SAFe, or PMI-ACP preferred. Validated experience in IT leadership roles, with a focus on strategy development, value extraction, program execution, and project management. Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning and execution skills. Experience in analyzing and measuring the business value of IT initiatives. Travel less than 10%. Preferred Qualifications: Strategic thinker with strong business and technology acumen. Excellent communicator with the ability to influence at all levels. Comfortable navigating ambiguity and driving clarity in complex environments. Demonstrated coaching, influencing, and negotiation skills in dynamic environments. Expected Salary Range $154,500.00 - $280,000.00. The exact salary will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and location.
