What's Operations at Wellmark? Our Operations division has over six hundred employees who manage important work such as enrolling our members, loading benefits, credentialing our providers, sending documents, paying claims, answering calls, training our employees, Operations Compliance, Operations Analytics, and Quality Assurance. We are one team united to provide the best service for our members and providers. What projects might I support? Although subject to change, examples of initiatives are included below: Provide day to day experiences of collaboration and partnership with various leaders and teams; focus on small scale deliverables, building interpersonal relationships, exposure to cross divisional elements of the Wellmark organization Work closely with subject matter experts to create desk-level procedures and process/system documentation into user-friendly documentation Collaborate with Operations Analytics on reporting and data analysis Take lead on ad hoc research projects and share findings on online provider information Provide testing support by documenting traceability and findings to ensure accurate and timely outcomes Desire to strengthen business acumen in health care industry and self-driven team environment I'm interested! This internship will start in May of 2026, working a hybrid schedule from our headquarters in Des Moines. Must be a current sophomore student studying Operations, Finance, Engineering, Business Insurance, Health Care Management, Risk Management & Insurance, Business Management, Business Analytics, or related programs. Excellent research skills and profound curiosity to dig deep to find insights. Strong collaboration, presentation and organizational skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively work with the business areas. Ability to see a task through to completion independently and as a team member. Proven problem solving and analytical thinking skills. Demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) Demonstrated project leadership skills with the ability to take initiative. Preferred: Prior experience in a business setting. Previous experience writing and executing manual test cases. All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
