Integrated Circuit Design Engineering Co-Op

Battelle is seeking an Integrated Circuit Design Engineering Co-Op for Spring and/or Summer Semester 2026. This position is 100% onsite, full-time, located in Columbus, OH. Battelle's Cyber Trust & Assurance division, in our National Security Global Business. We are currently seeking someone with knowledge of VSLI and integrated circuit design with a background in electrical or computer engineering. This individual will support technical analyses, design, modeling, simulation, and testing capabilities for novel technology applications. The application deadline is October 10, 2025 or until filled. Responsibilities

Intern activities may include some or all of the following: Support design and development activities for both digital and analog logic devices. Facilitate hardware validation and debugging. Write reports of methods used and results obtained. Key Qualifications

Must be currently pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields. Must be a Senior Undergraduate standing or higher. 1+ years of industry, academic, or research experience in VLSI design, simulation, layout, and testing. Sound understanding of electrical engineering concepts. Experience in layout tools such as KLayout, GDSFactory, Luceda, Cadence, Synopsys, etc. Proficiency in python scripting. Experience with design languages such as Verilog or VHDL. Knowledge of electromagnetics, semiconductor devices, and materials science. Experience within design, analysis, and/or manufacturing of IC devices. Solid verbal and written communication skills. Able to work independently and as part of a team. A positive attitude and willingness to take on technical challenges. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications

Experience in design and construction of measurement & data acquisition systems related to electrical probing, and microscopy. Related work experience (paid or unpaid) is preferred.
