The Part-Time Transportation Driver safely operates university mini-buses (15-passenger vehicles) to transport students, faculty, and staff to athletic, academic, and campus-related events. The driver ensures passenger safety, follows all traffic laws, and represents the university in a professional manner. Core Competencies: Represents Aurora University in the most positive manner with prospective, former and current students, clients, suppliers and the community we serve. Interacts effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, students and other customers of our service, learns and uses operating practices of the department and Aurora University. Upholds the Mission Statement: At Aurora University, our singular goal is to empower students to achieve lasting personal and professional success. We do this by being an inclusive community dedicated to the transformative power of learning. As a teaching-centered institution, we encourage undergraduate and graduate students to discover what it takes to build meaningful and purposeful lives. Essential Job Functions:
Operate university minibuses in a safe, courteous, and timely manner. Transport students, faculty, staff, and guests to and from campus events, practices, competitions, and other approved activities. Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns. Maintain accurate trip records as required by the university. Ensure passengers follow safety procedures, including seat belt use. Keep vehicles clean and presentable at all times. Represent the university in a professional and customer-focused manner. Essential Job Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience:
Prior professional driving experience preferred, particularly with passenger transport.
Skills:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL with passenger endorsement favored. Knowledge of traffic laws, defensive driving techniques, and vehicle safety procedures. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact professionally with students, staff, and the public. Special Requirements:
Evening and weekend availability is required. Flexibility with a fluctuating work schedule and environment is important. A valid driver's license and driving record which meets institutional requirements is required. Physical Requirements:
Employment is contingent upon successfully passing the Illinois Department of Transportation physical examination, which will be provided at the university's expense. Physical ability to endure driving for an extended period of time.
The anticipated pay rate for this position is $25.00 per hour.
This compensation is subject to change at the sole discretion of the university, based on institutional needs.
The pay range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted amount the university reasonably expects to pay for this position. The final pay rate will not be below the lowest pay rate listed herein.
