Manchester, NH . You will be responsible for supporting the team lead with electricity market simulation modeling, data analysis, and industry research. This includes collaboration with a team of engineers and analysts to provide the most accurate and useful information to inform how electric transmission can best enable the growth of clean energy technologies and meet the aggressive decarbonization goals of the New England states. This position will have a particular focus on tracking, reporting, and estimating power sector carbon emissions, through both simulation modeling and historical data. This will require interfacing with internal and external experts to gather data and useful knowledge. This position will begin by focusing on historical data and economic models, but there is a potential opportunity in the future for this position to support the implementation of cutting-edge software that tracks carbon flows on the transmission network. Essential Functions: Conduct quantitative and qualitative analysis of electricity demand, traditional and clean energy resources, consumer cost impacts, power sector emissions trends, and the transmission grid.

Research, analyze, and document power sector modeling input assumptions and simulation results

Support carbon flow modeling software development, testing, and implementation

Support implementation of process improvement initiatives related to economic analysis

Support other groups within Eversource through research and ad hoc data analysis

Track federal and state clean energy policies and transmission development opportunities

Develop reports, prepare presentations, write procedures, and perform other activities as needed

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications: Required Technical Knowledge/Skills: Working knowledge of ISO New England wholesale electricity markets or transmission planning procedures

Demonstrates strong analytical skills, ability to apply knowledge to solve problems and strong team building skills.

Understanding of economic theory and wholesale electricity markets

Understanding of state and federal utility industry regulation

Strong written and oral communication skills

Ability to use Microsoft Suite, including some advanced functions in MS Excel such as lookup functions, pivot tables, power query, etc.

Preferred Technical Knowledge/Skills: Experience with electric production cost modeling tools such as PLEXOS, Gridview, PROMOD, or any software with similar functionality and purpose. If no experience with production cost modeling, experience with power system analysis software such as PSS/E, TARA, Powerworld, ASPEN Oneliner, etc. is preferred

Experience with Python, particularly for scraping web data, analyzing, and transforming data, and interfacing with APIs

Education: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or the equivalent in combined education and experience is required; preferred Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering

Experience: Minimum of (3) years related industry experience

Working Conditions: Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.

Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
