In this role, you will manage a team of Preconstruction professionals to develop internal estimates, engage subcontractors, analyze bids, and compile estimates. You will lead the development and adherence to precon standards and processes, as well as manage personnel development. Job Responsibilities
Pre-Estimate:
Participate in design review meetings, monitor scope, cost, and constructability during design development, and lead or participate in Estimate Plan meetings to develop achievable strategies within constraints. Estimate Development:
Lead estimating teams, ensure tools and information are adequate, engage with proposal and design teams, identify risks, create conceptual estimates, and review estimates for compliance and accuracy. Subcontractor Management:
Build relationships, develop bid strategies, verify qualifications, organize pre-bid meetings, develop process flows, and ensure positive subcontractor experiences. Post Estimate:
Ensure budget compliance, participate in scope reviews, assist in subcontractor selection, and compile lessons learned for continuous improvement. Database Maintenance:
Maintain databases for subcontractors, bid forms, cost history, and estimates. Training:
Train staff, develop training programs, and participate in employee reviews and career development. Travel:
Attend bid walks, conferences, and visit projects, with 10-25% travel expected. Miscellaneous:
Manage resources, coordinate with other groups, and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred, with 10+ years of experience, or 15+ years relevant industry experience. Experience with large-scale water and wastewater projects. Skills and Certifications
Estimating, scheduling, budgeting, client relationships, subcontractor/vendor relations, computer skills. Knowledge of estimating software (e.g., Beck Destini, Accubid, Bluebeam, InSite). Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to manage support staff and train others. Additional Information
