Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
Sustainability Specialist
POSITION OBJECTIVE
This position will support and advance sustainability and social responsibility (S/SR) programs at the corporate and site level including:
Developing FPC USA's short- and long-term S/SR strategies including conformance with the United Nations Sustainable Development goals. Tracking and communicating FPC USA's carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions. Providing input on carbon reduction strategies to senior management. Coordinating memberships in the Alliance to End Plastic Waste and other S/SR organizations. Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of sustainability programs, and when needed, recommending changes to close strategic gaps. Partnering with customers and suppliers that are committed to furthering green initiatives including completing customer questionnaires. Maintaining third-party sustainability credentials and certifications such as Ecovadis, Sedex & Operation Clean Sweep. Organizing company-wide and NJ site-specific volunteer activities such as beach cleaning, NJ Community Food Bank, Tree Planting, St. Huberts Pet Shelter, etc. Working with business unit representatives to promote new product lines and uses for existing products that promote S/SR. Maintaining and enhancing the S/SR information on the fpcusa.com web site and social media including quarterly updates to sustainable development reports. Developing communication materials for employees regarding a company's sustainability goals.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
Execution of sustainability and social responsibility projects that deliver measurable environmental and community impact. Management of greenhouse gas emissions data, carbon footprint reporting, and carbon reduction strategies. Oversight of SDG historical data collection, analysis, and public communication in alignment with UN standards. Advancement of corporate social responsibility programs that enhance Formosa Plastics' reputation as a responsible corporate citizen. Delivery of effective communications that highlight sustainability goals, initiatives, and achievements to internal and external stakeholders. Support of corporate compliance with sustainability frameworks, industry standards, and certifications.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Sustainability, Environmental Science, or related field with 5-7 years of communications experience, along with professional experience in sustainability, environmental management, or corporate social responsibility. Ideal experience includes work within the manufacturing, chemical, or energy sectors, with direct involvement in greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction initiatives, carbon credit or offset programs, energy efficiency, or recycling projects. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to apply engineering and environmental principles to develop practical sustainability solutions. Additional projects may include organizing SDG historical data and the development of communicating that information to the public based on our adherence to the UN SDGs.
