As a member of Gorton's Manufacturing Engineering Department, you will apply engineering concepts and continuous improvement initiatives to help improve plant operations to increase production efficiencies. This position also works closely with other departments on product innovation and renovation. You will develop project management skills by leading projects related to process and plant manufacturing, along with projects related to ensuring productivity, safety and quality of our processes, people, and products.
What you'll do:
Improve manufacturing operations by working closely with production staff to design and develop innovative tools and processes to increase productivity. Work closely with Project Engineering team to support large capital projects and new production line implementation into the production plant. Partner with R&D, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Sales on projects. Work closely with R&D and Marketing to design production solutions for product innovation. Provide technical support and training to production staff. Assist with continuous improvement efforts and investigate innovative processes to improve plant operations. Identify and validate cost savings and sustainability initiatives. What you'll need:
Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. 0-3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering role Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and quality control. Proficiency in CAD software and other engineering tools. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is a plus. The ability to travel (approximately 5%-10%). A curious, innovative thinker, with good problem-solving and analytical skills.
