The Ronald McDonald Family Room at the Cleveland Clinic Children's Hospital is an extension of the services Ronald McDonald House of Cleveland provides. The Family Room is a special place within the hospital where families can relax and "get away" while still being close to their child. The role of the Family Room Volunteer is to be supportive to the families who visit the Room, providing a friendly, caring atmosphere.
Specific Responsibilities
Greet families upon arrival and orient guests to the Family Room
Register new families
Answer telephones and keep simple statistical records
Offer resources to families
Enforce Family Room and Hospital policies when needed
Assist with light household chores
Help provide a warm, friendly and supportive atmosphere for families
Time Commitment
4 hour shift once weekly or bi-weekly
Minimum 50 hour commitment over a six month period
Minimum Age and Education Requirements
Adult 18 years and older with High School Diploma or Equivalent
Training and Screening
Cleveland Clinic and Family Room Orientation: Approx. 4 hours
Desk-coaching (working under supervision): 3 hours
Annual TB test
Reference Checks
