The Subramanian Lab is seeking a highly motivated and capable Lab Manager I to oversee vivarium operations, manage general lab maintenance and procurement, and contribute directly to research efforts focused on immune-mediated diseases. This is a full-time research staff position ideal for individuals considering graduate school or further scientific training. The position is currently
funded through May 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension depending on funding.
The successful candidate will play a key role in completing an ongoing project investigating immune dysregulation in Type 1 diabetes using non-obese diabetic (NOD) mice. There are ample opportunities for authorship and professional development in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.
Responsibilities:
Manage vivarium operations including breeding, tagging, genotyping, animal husbandry, and inventory management of mouse strains
Maintain the lab's IACUC and BUA protocols and ensure compliance with institutional regulations
Oversee procurement processes: gather quotes, place orders, manage vendor communication, track deliveries, and organize inventory
Maintain laboratory equipment and shared spaces to ensure smooth day-to-day function
Support experimental workflows, including data collection and protocol optimization, with a focus on immunology and mouse models of disease
Attend and contribute to regular lab meetings and individual check-ins
Participate in budget tracking and work with PI and admin staff on cost projections and reconciliations
Provide training and supervision for junior lab members as needed
Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Immunology, or a related field Previous experience working with animal models, ideally NOD mice or immunological mouse models Familiarity with genotyping, animal handling, and experimental protocols involving mice Demonstrated capacity for independent work, organization, problem-solving, and clear communication Strong attention to detail, high degree of responsibility, and willingness to pitch in where needed Prior experience in lab management, ordering, or protocol development is a plus
Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
