Become A Mentor to Build A Child's Reading Confidence

Project Details Books & Buddies is a reading program developed to improve literacy skills by partnering students with volunteer mentors acting as reading companions. No experience is necessary. Books & Buddies is a minimum one-hour weekly commitment throughout the school year. We understand that absences for various reasons will occur, but as much consistency as possible is the goal. Books & Buddies Mentor Centers operate during school hours and will be located in 5 Title 1 schools throughout the valley during the 2025/26 school year. A one-and-a-half hour orientation and a background check (STWN covers the cost) is required to participate in the program. Orientation sessions are held at two location options for your convenience.
